Support Groups

Although each survivor’s experience is unique, it can be especially helpful to talk to others who have been or are going through situations similar to your own.  The groups provide a safe environment as well as support and healing from the abuse you have experienced in your life.

Support groups are currently available via Zoom video and/or audio conference and are free and confidential.

Para mujeres hispanohablantes que están viviendo o han vivido con violencia doméstica o agresión sexual. Se reune semanalmente por Zoom o en persona dependiendo de la disponibilidad del grupo. LGBTQIA+ Support Group

When:  A special 4-week cycle just for survivors of sexual assault will be held on Tuesdays, 6-7:30pm from June 1st to June 22nd. (Survivors of all genders are welcome to participate.)
Location: The SA-specific cycle in June 2021 will be held via Zoom video/audio conference.

SafeHouse Center welcomes sexual assault survivors of the LGBTQIA+ family who seek a safe and supportive environment to share their experiences and find healing. This group is for participants of all genders.

Teen Sexual Abuse Support Group

When:  This group is on hiatus at this time.
Location: Corner Health Center (47 N. Huron St., Ypsilanti, MI).

For female identified survivors of sexual abuse, ages 14-19. 

Curriculum Based Groups

Some of the topics that may be discussed are: LGBT-specific domestic violence and sexual assault education; Support and healing; Safety planning; Healthy relationships; Self-care. 

Safe Connections

When: 10-week program, Thursdays – 2:30-4:30pm
Upcoming cycle starting March 18, 2021

A 10-week support/educational group for allies against harmful or unhealthy relationships and survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence with I/DD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities). The group includes safe talk, kinship, and a lesson of the day (chosen by the group) about positive and healthy relationships. Topics may cover: tools and tips for making relationship choices, guidance for positive relationships, and improving communication about sex. Participants must be over 18. There is no cost to participate. Please register by March 11th if you’d like to participate. This group is hosted by the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living and SafeHouse Center.

LATRE Group (Life After The Relationship Ends)

When: 8 week program, 2 times per year: Tuesday – 6:00-7:30pm
Location: SafeHouse Center (4100 Clark Rd., Ann Arbor, MI)

An 8 week series for survivors of all genders who have left an abusive relationship and are no longer in crisis. The group incorporates activities, art and a supportive atmosphere to aid in the healing process from the abuse.

LATRE Group (La Vida Despues de La Relacion – Español)

Para sobrevivientes de todo género que han recibido servicios de SafeHouse en el pasado y han dejado una relación íntima abusiva. La meta de este grupo es apoyo continuo y educación para seguir adelante. Tenemos cuidado de niños durante el grupo para niños que tienen 3 años o más.

An 8 week Didactic Group for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who are women incarcerated in the Washtenaw County Jail that provides education and support group.

Huron Valley Group

A 10 week Didactic group for survivors of domestic violence who are women incarcerated in the Huron Valley Women’s Correctional Facility.  The group provides education and support about domestic violence.
