Volunteer Application Process

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for SafeHouse Center! In order to begin volunteering please begin the application process below. Note: This process can take several weeks and we cannot accommodate all applicants due to capacity. We appreciate your patience during this process.

  1. Review our volunteer requirements and our confidentiality and security policy:


  2. Choose which volunteer opportunity is the best fit for you, and submit an application. For details about all of our volunteer programs, training, and time requirements, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page.
    • Direct Services Volunteer Application
      1. The Volunteer Coordinator will assign you to a specific direct service opportunity based on your rankings provided in the application.
      2. Please note: ALL applications for Direct Services Volunteers are due September 9, 2019 by 12pm.
    • Non-Direct Services Volunteer Application 
      1. We are accepting applications for both Fundraising and Community Outreach and Front Desk Receptionist.
    • Teen Voice Application
      1. You must be an enrolled student of a Washtenaw County high school and between the ages of 13 and 18 to participate in Teen Voice.
  3. SafeHouse Center will contact the references you provided in your application


  4. Fill out authorization form and clear background check
    • Authorization form will be sent to applicants via email after submitting application
  5. Complete a screening interview with SafeHouse Center staff member


  6. If you are selected for a volunteer position, complete the required training.
