50th Anniversary Evening Celebration

Join SafeHouse Center as we celebrate fifty years of empowering survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence through advocacy, support, and social change while investing in the next chapter of safety, healing, justice, and hope.

October 7, 2026
6:00 to 9:00 PM
Washtenaw Community College
Morris Lawrence Building

Since 1975, SafeHouse Center has stood beside survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence, helping individuals and families find safety, healing, justice, and hope.

What began as a grassroots effort by dedicated community members has grown into Washtenaw County’s comprehensive provider of services for survivors of both sexual assault and intimate partner violence. For five decades, survivors, advocates, volunteers, donors, partners, and community members have helped shape this work and strengthen our collective response to violence.

Our 50th Anniversary Evening Celebration is an opportunity to reflect on that shared history, celebrate the progress we have made together, recognize individuals whose leadership helped shape our journey, and invest in the future so survivors continue to have access to advocacy, support, and pathways to healing for generations to come.

During the event guests will enjoy:

  • A 50 Years of Impact Exhibit featuring photographs, stories, milestones, and artifacts from SafeHouse Center’s history.
  • Reflections on the organization’s past, present, and future.
  • Powerful survivor centered storytelling.
  • Recognition of individuals whose extraordinary leadership helped shape SafeHouse Center’s legacy, including Congresswoman Debbie Dingell.
  • Opportunities to connect with others who have helped build a safer community.
  • A chance to invest in the future of survivor services through our anniversary fundraising campaign.

Every day, survivors continue to seek safety, advocacy, and support. As our community grows and survivor needs become increasingly complex, SafeHouse Center remains committed to ensuring that every survivor has access to compassionate, confidential services when they need them most. Your attendance, sponsorship, or donation helps ensure that this work continues for the next fifty years.
