There’s a man who believes that this woman owes him sex. He plans to get her drunk and take her back to his place. It doesn’t matter if she’s willing; it’s more fun if he has to work for it.

There’s a man who believes his girlfriend deserves the shade of blue her face is turning as his hands are around her neck. He caught her trying to pack up the car with her things and their kids. He told her he would kill her if she tried to leave. He thinks he is justified in what he is doing. She knew it would happen.

There’s a man who is in control. His husband must ask to spend a dollar an, if he disobeys, he is punished. This man is prominent in the community, so his husband believes him when he says that if he goes to the police, no one will believe him and he’ll never see their children again.

There’s a man who shot his wife in the face. She deserved it. He had been planning on doing it since entering prison. He was released today, and if it hand’t been for her, he never would have been there in the first place.

There are people just like this is Washtenaw County. They are going about their business as you read this. They want to carry on undisturbed. They share one hope: there will not be a place for survivors to go and that you will not support SafeHouse Center.
