Teen Voice Presentation Request

If interested in a Teen Voice Presentation, please contact Laura Hoehner-Dane, our Volunteer, Intern and Speaker’s Bureau Coordinator at laurah@safehousecenter.orgfor more information.

SafeHouse Center’s Teen Voice program takes pride in providing dating violence, consent, and healthy relationship education to the community. Complete the following form to request SafeHouse Center’s Teen Voice program at your classroom or organization. Please allow at least 30 days after the request is received to process.  Requests are met based on Teen Voice facilitator availability. Although we attempt to fill all speaking engagements, a request is not a guarantee a presenter will be available.

The Teen Voice presentation is designed to last one hour. The presentations utilizes a variety of media, activities, and group work to teach participants about the issues of teen dating violence, consent, and healthy relationships. The presentations are given by a team of two voluntary members of the Teen Voice program who have gone through extensive training on the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. There will be a SafeHouse Center staff member at each presentation, as well. There are both pre and post-surveys for participants, and resources for youth surviving violence within Washtenaw County.

Teen Voice is a peer-education based program made up of voluntary youth aged 13-18. Studies show that teens and youth learn better when taught by their peers as opposed to adults, so peer education serves as the foundation of the program. We offer these presentations to schools and nonprofit organizations within Washtenaw County. Teen Voice also serves as a community activist group aiming to raise awareness and consciousness of dating violence, sexual assault, and healthy relationships.

Thank you so much for your interest in having Teen Voice present to your school/organization. The support SafeHouse Center and the Teen Voice program receives from members of our community is appreciated immensely, and it is because of your support that we are able to continue to provide services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Washtenaw County, and offer educational opportunities to the community, as well.
