JOB TITLE:     Development Resource Assistant

DEPARTMENT:      Development/Fundraising

PAY RANGE:   hourly (non-exempt employee)



HOURS:   40 Hours (some evening or weekends – events)

Summary:    This position works closely with the Giving and Events Manager and other leadership to meet fundraising goals throughout the year. This entails attendance at various meetings, operation of the Etapestry donor database, process donations, help to plan and work at events, and other operational tasks as outlined. Additionally, this position will be in charge of keeping the constituent database current and providing assistance with donor reports and thank you letters. The Resource Development Associate will help execute the current social media strategy, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn schedules.

Desired experience and other valued skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in or two years’ experience in a related field (event planning, fundraising, grant writing, social media and community engagement).
  • Demonstrated skill in writing, speaking, interpersonal communication, and teamwork
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the unique circumstances of underserved populations and to survivors to domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Commitment to ending violence against women and children
  • Proficient in Excel and Word and good working knowledge of donor databases
  • Eagerness to learn and explore new ideas and work collaboratively with committee members and team members
  • Outgoing personality, comfortable talking with donors and networking at large scale events
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and resourceful
  • Experience in WordPress or other website software packages a plus
  • Fluency in language(s) other than English preferred
  • Public speaking experience preferred

Essential Job Duties:

  • Process online donation payments
    • Follow up with timely thank you/receipt letters
  • Writing projects
    • Attention to detail and good editing skills
    • Collaborate on writing projects (i.e speeches, annual report, grants, etc.)
  • Manage mail and online campaigns
    • Manage production and dissemination of Campaign Mailings
    • Make online donations pages necessary for specific campaigns
  • Promote Social Media via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
    • Work to increase followers/likes/interactions as determined by current social media strategy
    • Interact with other parties on social media
    • Promoting current campaigns/ relevant news/ SafeHouse Center’s Mission
  • Communication with relevant parties
    • Information and communication with donors or potential donors
    • Communicate with parties interested in third party events
    • Provide assistance with in-kind donations
    • Networking at large scale events
  • Collaborate to increase efficiency of procedures
    • Continue working with database/Etapestry to find useful resources
    • Brainstorm ideas on increasing efficiency as related to donations/donors/events
  • Oversight of survey data collection and documentation
    • Working with agency coordinators, distribute and receive survey data on an on-going or annual basis
    • Compile data for internal use
  • Planning and Preparation Duties
    • Assist staff and board prepare and plan for committee/donor/event meetings
    • Plan and prepare for events throughout the year including at SafeHouse Center,
  • Complete other tasks as directed by leadership
  • Clerical and organizational duties as necessary

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all rules, policies and procedures as set forth by SafeHouse Center.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous and helpful demeanor at all times when working at or representing SafeHouse Center or its programs.
  • Participate in any community forum, committee or council as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Serve as liaison between SafeHouse Center and the community, being mindful of public image, community relations and the promotion of domestic violence and sexual assault services.
  • Allow flexibility in scheduling and job function.
  • Respond to any job function as requested by supervisor.
  • Abide by confidentiality at all times.
  • Make public speaking presentations to the community and/or service agencies as assigned.
  • Maintain a good driving record and carry liability insurance for passengers in personal vehicle.
  • Read and adhere to the SHC Policy and Procedures Manual; be mindful of health and safety issues at all times; notify Program Director in writing of any concerns regarding health and safety.
  • Provide services in accordance with the organization’s personnel policies, mission and goals.
  • Greet and assist people when they enter the public lobby.
  • Participate in conferences, classes and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skill.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Participate in regular supervision with the appropriate supervisor.
  • Sign up for some holiday shifts during popular holiday times (most notably – but not necessarily limited to – the time around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s). Some limited holiday shifts will be required of all staff in order to keep our essential crisis intervention functions operational at all times throughout the year.
  • Sign up for the required number of community education presentations, information tables or other outreach opportunities.
  • Assist with special events when appropriate.
  • All other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Help to keep shared spaces orderly and take part in office-related light cleaning chores as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive cooperative work approach and foster teamwork among co-workers.
