Volunteer Process and Applications

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for SafeHouse Center! SafeHouse Center has two large umbrella groups of volunteer opportunities: Direct Services and Non-Direct Services. Direct Services consist of four programs that offer volunteers the opportunity to work directly with survivors and their children. For information about all of our volunteer opportunities, visit our Volunteer Opportunities page.

Volunteer Process

The application process is as follows:

  • Pick a volunteer opportunity to pursue
  • Submit one of our three volunteer applications
    • For the Direct Service Training Application, the Volunteer Coordinator assigns applicants to opportunities based on rank provided in application
    • Please note the deadline for the Direct Service Training Application
  • SafeHouse Center will contact references provided in application
  • Fill out authorization form and clear background check
    • Authorization form will be sent to applicants via email after submitting application
  • Complete a screening interview with SafeHouse Center staff member
  • If selected for volunteer position, complete required training
  • New volunteers are required to make a six month commitment

Online Volunteer Applications:

If you would like assistance or accommodations in filling out the application, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 734-973-0242 ext. 297 or laurah@safehousecenter.org.
